Looking to adopt a furry friend?
The friendly and loving staff at the Bullhead City Animal Shelter are ready to help you find your furry friend today! The shelter receives many different breeds, sizes, and types of dogs and cats, and sometimes birds, ferrets, rabbits, and more. If you don't see an animal that would be a great fit, come back in and keep looking as the Shelter receives over roughly 3,000 animals a year!
Animals without identification are held 4 business days and animals with identification are held 6 business days. They are then put up for adoption if not claimed by their owners, providing the animal is in good health and does not show signs of aggression towards others.
Pet adoptions include: Health examination, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, first preventative and age-appropriate vaccination(s), a 1-year license (if you are a Bullhead City resident), and lots of local pet discounts and training resources!
- Adoption Fee: $100
- Positive Paws Sponsored Adoption Fee: $70
- SAINT Sponsored Adoption Fee: $50
- Swanty's Sponsorship Adoption Fee: $30
- Veteran Adoption Fee: $75 (must provide proof of Veteran status)
Our animals are also featured weekly on City social media in "Pets in the Neighborhood" every Monday and in the Mohave Valley Daily News newspaper.
Wanting to spay & neuter your pets?
Saving Animals in Need Together (SAINT) is a local non-profit organization that offers a voucher program for pet owners to spay/neuter their pets. For more information, visit www.bhcsaint.org.
Why spay and neuter?
There are many different reasons why pet owners choose to spay and neuter their pets. The biggest reason is the over population of dogs and cats. In the USA, it is estimated that one animal is capable of producing several generations, totaling more than 10,000 offspring. Another reason to alter your pet is health and behavior benefits. Many of the same cancers humans can get, so too can our pets get. Additionally, spaying/neutering may help resolve various behavioral issues such as running away, dogs jumping into your yard, aggressiveness, and marking of territory.
