Lost or Found Pets

What to do if you lost your pet
KEEP PETS COOL!

keep pets cool in the heat

Our Animal Enforcement officers want to remind you that your pets rely on you to keep them safe during the summertime. If it’s too hot for you; it’s too hot for them!

▪️Make sure your pet has plenty of water and shade.
▪️A small wading pool outside works great to cool off pets.
▪️Never leave your animal unattended in a vehicle, even with the windows cracked. In just 10 minutes, a car can heat up by 20 degrees. Leave pets at home.
▪️Do not walk your dog during the day because the pads on their feet can burn. Instead, walk in the early mornings or evenings. If it’s too hot for you; it’s too hot for them.
▪️Never leave your animal unattended for more than 24 hours.
▪️If your pet is required to be tied up while outside, make sure it has plenty of shade and water. The tie should be no shorter than 10 feet.
▪️There are some signs of pet dehydration, including excessive drooling, lethargy, bloodshot eyes, and loss of skin elasticity. If you are concerned your pet may be dehydrated, get it into the shade, provide water, cool it down with a damp cloth and contact your veterinarian.

FAQs:

How many dogs and cats are allowed per residence?
Bullhead City residents are allowed to have 3 dogs and 3 cats over the age of four months old per household.

I am moving to Bullhead City and have over the number of pets allowed?
Bullhead City offers a "Pet Fancier" permit for those new residents moving into our area with more animals than allowed.
New residents may apply for a permit within 90 days of residency without any prior violations or Animal Enforcement contact. To apply, please bring in the rabies certificate that was given by a veterinarian. A license needs to be purchased within 30 days from the date the owner acquires the dog or cat or bring them into the city limits.

What can I do with the wild cats around the house?
Animal Enforcement officers recommend you do not feed your dog outside or feed the feral cats. Feeding the cats can attract other wildlife, including coyotes, skunks, and raccoons to your neighborhood.

Where can I let my dog run off a leash?
Bullhead City has two beautiful dog parks. They are located at Community Park, 1251 Highway 95, and Rotary Park, 2315 Balboa Drive. Both of these dog parks are fully enclosed and are near the gorgeous Colorado River. Otherwise, dogs must be on a leash, no longer than 6 feet.

Does the Bullhead City License have to be on my dog at all times?
Yes, the Bullhead City license has to be worn by the dog at all times. The license provides Animal Enforcement Officers with your information in case your dog is lost or found. To purchase a license, go to the shelter at 2270 Trane Road and bring in proof of current rabies from a veterinarian. The license can be purchased for one to three years, depending on the status of the rabies vaccine.
