INTERESTED IN SERVING ON A BULLHEAD CITY BOARD OR COMMISSION?

You must be a resident of the City of Bullhead City

to serve on a Bullhead City Board or Commission.

Below please find the application form and information on Bullhead City's various boards, commissions, and committees which is intended to provide you with helpful information about the role that appointed members have when serving. Members are appointed by the Bullhead City Council.

You can apply for an appointment by completing the application (below) and returning it to the Bullhead City Clerk's office either by emailing it to dogden@bullheadcityaz.gov, faxing it to 928-763-0131, or mailing it to the attention of the Bullhead City Clerk's Office, 2355 Trane Road, Bullhead City, AZ 86442. Although there may not be a vacancy at the time you apply, your application will be retained for six months from the time it is received. A current list of interested citizens is maintained in the event a vacancy occurs.

Your willingness to participate and to share your knowledge and experience is truly appreciated. You can make a difference by serving as a volunteer on one of Bullhead City's boards or commissions!

Board of Adjustment

Purpose:

To hear and decide appeals of actions taken by the zoning administrator.

Composition:

The Board is comprised of five members appointed by the City Council for two-year staggered terms. Members elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson annually who shall serve a term of one year. Members shall serve without pay. Members must be a resident of Bullhead City.

Time Commitment:

The Board of Adjustment meets on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, or as needed.

Building Board of Appeals

Purpose:

To determine the suitability of alternate materials and methods of construction and to provide reasonable interpretation of the International Building Code.

Composition:

Time Commitment:

The Building Board of Appeals meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, or as needed.

Bullhead Area Transit System Commission

Purpose:

To provide recommendations to the City Council regarding the development and maintenance of a public transportation system for the city.

Composition:

The Commission is comprised of five members appointed by the City Council for two-year staggered terms. Members elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson annually who shall serve a term of one year. Members shall serve without pay.

Time Commitment:

The Commission meets quarterly on the first Monday in February, May, August, and November at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, unless otherwise noted, and may hold additional work sessions and/or special meetings throughout the year as necessary.

Franchise License Commission

Purpose:

To provide recommendations to the City Council concerning policies, rules and regulations pertaining to the City’s franchise agreements and licenses, and evaluate citizen concerns and suggestions.

Composition:

The Commission is comprised of five members appointed by the City Council for three-year staggered terms. Members elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson annually who shall serve a term of one year. Members shall serve without pay.

Time Commitment:

The Commission meets quarterly on the fourth Tuesday in January, April, July and October at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted, and may hold additional work sessions and/or special meetings throughout the year as necessary.

Parks & Recreation Commission

Purpose:

To provide recommendations to the City Council regarding the planning, development, operation and maintenance of city-owned parks, and recreational programs.

Composition:

Time Commitment:

The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, unless otherwise noted, and may hold additional work sessions and/or special meetings throughout the year as necessary.

Planning & Zoning Commission

Purpose:

To provide recommendations to the City Council as to the best present and future use to which land and buildings shall be put within the city.

Composition:

The Commission is comprised of seven members appointed by the City Council for two-year staggered terms. Members elect a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson annually who shall serve a term of one year. Members shall serve without pay.

Time Commitment:

The Commission meets on the first Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, unless otherwise noted, and may hold additional work sessions and/or special meetings throughout the year as necessary.
